And we are thrilled to announce that following its main House debut in 2022 with Uncommon Riches, our Young Rep companies return with their fourth summer festival Home and Horizons (Wed 9 -Sun 20 Jul). These festivals are The Rep’s chance to put the spotlight on our celebrated youth theatre groups of children and young people aged 7 – 18, and to give a voice to the next generation of theatrical talent as they explore adventure, community and self-discovery.

Working with professional theatre makers, the festival will feature over 400 young performers across a packed 15 days, showcasing a variety of first-class productions. Highlights include Tennessee Williams’ Summer & Smoke (Fri 11 & Sat 12 Jul); Medea by Europides (Sun 13 & Tue 15 Jul), Alice by Laura Wade (Alice In Wonderland rewritten) (Thu 17 & Fri 18 Jul) and Jekyll & Hyde by Evan Placey (Sat 19 & Sun 20 Jul).

Joining these shows in the line-up for our largest theatre space, The House, are three stunning productions perfect for the classic literature lover, Die Hard film buff or the Jazz connoisseur in your life.

In September, Emma (Mon 29-Sep – Sat 4 Oct) Jane Austen’s enduring comedy of manners will be making it’s way to our main stage. Filled with memorable characters- the dashing Mr Knightley, Emma’s friends Jane Fairfax and Harriet Smith, the mercenary Reverend Elton and his delightfully pretentious wife Augusta – this new stage production celebrates Austen’s magic in fitting style.

Premiering at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2022, the award-winning Yippee Ki Kay (The Parody Celebration of Die Hard) (Mon 13 & Tue 14 Oct) celebrates the iconic festive film favourite while also telling the personal story of a life-long Die Hard fan. Written and performed by actor Richard Marsh – it is essential viewing for Hans Gruber connoisseurs and newcomers alike.

And closing out the month, Black is the Color of My Voice (Wed 15 & Thu 16 Oct) Apphia Campbell’s acclaimed play follows a successful singer and civil rights activist as she seeks redemption after the untimely death of her father. Inspired by the life of Nina Simone, she reflects on the journey that took her from a young piano prodigy destined for a life in the service of the church, to a renowned jazz vocalist at the forefront of the Civil Rights Movement and features many of her most iconic songs performed live.

Finally, we’ll be ushering the chill of the Autumn/Winter season unto our stages with a stunning season of suspense, thrillers, murder mysteries, and even some hilarious buzzer-beater moments.

Beginning with The Croft, from the director and producers of the acclaimed Birdsong (Tue 10 – Sat 14 Jun). A bold and haunting play based on a true highland story starring Liza Goddard, one of the UK’s favourite actresses (Dr Who, Bergerac, Coronation Street, A Touch of Frost);

Spitfire Girls written by actress Katherine Senior (Mon 16 – Sat 21 Jun) inspired by the extraordinary true stories of the women who dared to fly during WWII;

From the mind of acclaimed writer Torben Betters and starring TV favourites Jason Durr (Heartbeat, Causality) and Susie Blake (Victoria Wood’s As Seen on TV, Coronation Street) comes Murder at Midnight (Tue 16-Sat 20 Sep). A blend of razor sharp wit with chilling suspense presented by Original Theatre.

And lastly, the recently announced critically acclaimed new musical Starter for Ten (Wed 22 Oct – Sat 1 Nov) starring TV presenter, writer and actress Mel Giedroyc

But that’s only a handful of the shows in the brochure, and with this much variety, this is a season not to missed!
