To usher you through the Winter and into the Spring, we have a line up full of thrilling new work, returning favourites and fun for the entire family, including THREE Christmas shows across our stages featuring festive snowflakes, snowmen and ghosts! But the fun doesn’t end with our festive season…

Cycles

Following the premiere at London’s Barbican Theatre earlier this year, the UK’s most celebrated Hip Hop dance company Boy Blue bring their acclaimed new performance piece Cycles to The Rep for two day in The Studio.
This new production is movement at its most fluid, distilled and skilled. Resolute and unapologetic, Boy Blue‘s latest production is a tenacious exploration of hip hop dance in all its forms. Experience the connection between the movement on stage and the rhythm, groove and bounce of the music, as nine powerful dancers fill the space in what feels like unending movement.
Death of a Salesman

Step into the fading American Dream in Arthur Miller’s masterpiece Death of a Salesman here at The Rep this March.
This gripping tale pitting a father’s expectations against his sons’ realities is as relevant and as poignant now as it was when it first exploded on the theatre scene in 1949. With star casting to be announced, this Pulitzer Prize-winning play is back in a new production, taking you on an enthralling journey through the final 24 hours of Willy Loman’s life.
Boys From The Blackstuff

James Graham’s powerful new adaptation of Alan Bleasdale’s BAFTA award-winning TV series Boys From the Blackstuff bursts onto the main stage from Tue 18 Mar.
Directed by Kate Wasserberg, Boys From the Blackstuff is set in 1980s Liverpool and features the well known characters of Chrissie, Loggo, Dixie and Yosser who are used to hard work and providing for their families but there is no work and there is no money. What are they supposed to do? Work hard, work longer?
Ballet Black

Now in its 23rd year, Cassa Pancho’s Ballet Black returns to The Rep for the third time with a brand new double bill!
This multi award-winning is the UK/Europe’s first black professional neoclassical Ballet company and has transformed the landscape of
British ballet, creating a prominent platform for dancers and artists of Black and Asian descent.
The company was established with a transformative vision for classical ballet, encapsulated by Pancho’s powerful motto, ‘Change Not Trend.’
Jamaica Love

Feel the rhythm of Reggae as you enjoy the legendary vocals of John McLean, the soulful harmonies of Celia Wickham-Anderson (of Black Voices fame), and the vibrant sounds of our amazing live band as they take you on a journey through Jamaica’s rich musical heritage—from ska and rocksteady to reggae.
Nominated for both, Best Musical Production & Best Musical Director at the Black British Theatre Awards 2024, immerse yourself in an evening of compelling storytelling, humour, and unforgettable music that delves into themes of identity, resistance, and resilience.
A Thousand Splendid Suns

Six years after its acclaimed UK premiere at The Rep, former Rep Artistic Director Roxana Silbert returns to Birmingham to direct, A Thousand Splendid Suns – adapted by Ursula Rani Sarma from Khaled Hosseini’s spiritual sequel to The Kite Runner.
Performed on the main stage from Fri 11 Apr – Sat 3 May, A Thousand Splendid Suns is set in 1992 in an Afghanistan ravaged by war. An orphaned Laila is left alone in an increasingly threatening world. Her old neighbour Rasheed is quick to open his home and takes Laila as his second wife.
After opening here at The Rep, this unflinching, life affirming drama will then tour to our co-producers Nottingham Playhouse (Tue 13 – Sat 24 May), and Leeds Playhouse (28 May – 14 June)
Little Women

Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women has been masterfully adapted for the stage by Anne-Marie Casey, which will be gracing our The House stage in May 2025.
Experience the enduring journey of the March sisters – tomboy Jo, beautiful Meg, sensitive Beth, and spoilt Amy, as they navigate the challenges of the Civil War era, forging unbreakable bonds of love and family.
Still as relevant today Little Women is a celebration of women proving that women can be heroes of their own story, can be bold, persistent, self-assured to stand strong in who they are, and what they desire for themselves in their present and future.
And we’re excited to announce the World Premiere of Sir Lenny Henry’s hilarious book…
The Boy With Wings

Sir Lenny Henry‘s children’s book The Boy With Wings has been adapted by Arvind Ethan David, who produced the stage production of Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill, and is directed by the Bush Theatre‘s associate artistic director, Daniel Bailey.
The world premiere of the stage play, recommended for children aged between 7 and 12, will launch at the children-focused Polka Theatre in south-west London before transferring here to The Rep from Thu 21 Aug to Mon 30 Aug.
The play follows, Tunde, an ordinary kid who is about to become an EXTRAORDINARY hero after sprouting wings and learning that he is all that stands between Earth and total destruction.- suddenly his parents and school aren’t all he has to contend with. Luckily, his rag-tag group of pals have got his back, and with his new powers, Tunde is ready to fly in the face of danger – this is his destiny. No pressure then.
And these are just a few highlights from this amazing season!
Complementing The House productions is a dynamic programme in The Door curated by The Rep’s Deputy Artistic Director, Madeleine Kludje, promising audiences an array of entertaining and thought-provoking work dramas, comedies and children’s programming. Such as coming-of-age comedy drama, COMMUNITY.
Set in the heart of Birmingham, this extraordinary new play explores themes of identity, belonging, and friendship through the lens of a woman of colour in today’s world. Written by a graduate of Rep Foundry and a proud Brummie, Farrah Chaudhry and supported by The Sir Barry Jackson Trust
