Theatres Trust Sustainability Grant
We are delighted to be the recipient of £20,000 from the Theatres Trust Theatre Improvement Scheme in association with the Wolfson Foundation. This generous grant will enable us to make improvements to the air system in The House (our largest auditorium), reducing the energy needed for heating and being a key part of our commitment to sustainability.
On Mon 5 Jun (the 50th Anniversary of World Environment Day) we joined the Culture Declares movement in declaring a Climate Emergency and made a commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and increasing our sustainability. Not only will this grant from the Theatre’s Trust have a great impact on our commitment to sustainability, it also enables us to reinvest the savings made into artists and community projects.
Jon Morgan, Director at Theatres Trust says
Theatres Trust is delighted to support Birmingham Rep through our Theatre Improvement Scheme in association with the Wolfson Foundation. It is great that The Rep has identified a project that will make a big difference to its environmental sustainability, reduce costs and improve audience comfort, which is exactly what this grant scheme was set up to do.”
Rachael Thomas, Executive Director for Birmingham Rep added
We’re so grateful to the Theatres Trust and Wolfson Foundation for this generous grant. The Rep is wholly committed to improving our sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint. This funding will enable us to undertake a sizable project that will reduce our energy usage in our largest auditorium by up to 30%, which is a fantastic step forward.”
A huge thank you to the Theatres Trust Theatre Improvement Scheme in association with the Wolfson Foundation for this grant. We are so proud to continue to commit to our environmental goals, whilst preserving our beautiful theatre.
