Birmingham Rep in Centenary Square, Birmingham

Further Education/Higher Education

A key aim of The Rep is the ongoing training and development of young people for a wide range of careers in theatre. As part of this commitment, we have a number of partnerships with FE and HE institutions to provide opportunities for Drama and Theatre Students.

Further Education:

Recently we have recently begun an exciting new partnership with Sandwell and Cadbury Colleges which brings BTEC performing arts students into the heart of the theatre. This gives the students a range of valuable theatre experiences which include:

  • Developing understanding of a wide range of careers in theatre from industry professionals
  • Observing Technical Rehearsals
  • Working with a Drama Practitioner in their college
  • Watching shows
  • Regularly rehearsing at The REP
  • Backstage Tours
  • Sandwell Satellite Young REP
  • Regular performance opportunities

Working with the REP has given our student’s some fantastic experience working within the industry. Our sessions are creative and ran with complete professionalism that allows the students to stretch and challenge themselves as well apply their creative skills in a professional work environment. It has been fantastic to see the students work with Natalie as professionals and not as students and develop that trust with her. We look forward to the performance opportunities that are coming up.”  – Mitch Miller. Creative sector curriculum manager – Cadbury College.

It has been very enjoyable and exciting experience working with the Birmingham Rep theatre and I can get a lot of skills and techniques that I can apply to work within Performing Arts” – Cadbury Student

It’s exciting to be able to work with such an established theatre and understand how the skills I have learnt can be applied in the real world.” – Cadbury Student
