We’re proud to have launched a new programme of R&D opportunities for companies and practitioners to explore new ideas and develop their work here in Birmingham at The Rep.

We offer six R&D opportunities a year that fall in-between our programmed schedule of performances. Four of these R&Ds are for people, projects and groups who specifically live, work or learn in the West Midlands. The remaining two are not restricted by location, and we welcome applicants from all over the UK.

From Monday to Friday (10 – 6pm), you’ll have exclusive use of our smallest venue, The Door (133 audience capacity), to develop a project, play or performance in an established and supportive setting. During these times you will be on-site at the same time as relevant Rep staff and will have a constant point of contact during your R&D.

(We recognise that freelance artists have many different working hours, and these hours may not be possible for everyone. As we develop our R&D offer, we are starting with a schedule that allows us to give artists the best support. As our Talent Development programme grows, we hope to expand our R&D offer.)
