Directors Link Up

Join our peer support network for directors

We’re excited to present this free, bi-monthly group for directors at any stage of their career. If you’re looking for an open and relaxed space to learn new directing techniques, get support from peers and share ideas, this is for you. At The Rep we are building a community of empowered directors in the West Midlands and we want you to be a part of it!

During these sessions, you will meet other directors to talk about topics affecting your area of practice, read scripts, discuss theatre shows and delve into directing approaches, theory and exercises. We will also give you a discounted ticket to see a show at The Rep after every session.

Led by The Rep’s in-house Associate Director Madeleine Kludje (GrimeBoy, City of a Thousand Trades) and featuring guest workshop leaders across the year, Directors Link Up offers a great place to connect and reflect.

Next Session:

Tue 20 May, 6-8.30pm, Creative Learning Hub.

This session will be led by Josh Parr, shortlisted for the 2024 JMK Award for his production of Crave. He was Resident Assistant Director at the Donmar Warehouse and is currently the Lead Director on Feedback Fridays at the Birmingham Rep, as well as a trustee of the Young Vic.

Directing Theatre credits include: Bwoy Dem (R&D and Sharing, Derby Theatre); Romeo and Juliet (Birmingham Performers College); A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Birmingham Performers College); Tiger Country (Arts Ed); Now You Know (Arts Ed); The Jumper Factory (UK Tour, Young Vic).

As Assistant Director: Much Ado About Nothing (RSC); Cymbeline (RSC); Watch on the Rhine (Donmar Warehouse); The Trials (Donmar Warehouse); Mary Seacole (Donmar Warehouse); Extra Time (Derby Theatre); Primetime (Royal Court).

You will have the opportunity to gain valuable insights into the process of directing, drawing from Josh’s expertise. Don’t miss this chance to connect with fellow directors and expand your creative network.
