A Flat Place
with Noreen Masud
This event has passed
Both a love letter to Britain’s flat landscapes, and a meditation on her uneasy relationship with the complex, painful histories they contain, A Flat Place takes the reader through Noreen Masud’s early years in Pakistan to Orkney, via Orford Ness, Morecambe Bay and the Cambridgeshire Fens.
Part memoir, part history and part nature travelogue, A Flat Place explores Noreen’s love of flat landscapes and the solace these places offer her as she reckons with complex post-traumatic stress disorder, the result of a disrupted and unstable childhood.
Join us for an exploration of some of Britain’s most beautiful landscapes and the complexity of places that both hide legacies of colonialism beneath vistas of pastoral innocence and offer spaces of healing and solace.
