Bedlam Arts and Mental Health Partnership

Join us in the Door for a celebration of the arts, mental health and wellbeing.

Expect a diverse range of live performance, with comedy, dance, drama and burlesque, accompanied by an exhibition at Birmingham Library. Whatever your age or background, there’s something for everyone.

Showcase Programme:

Highlights – Thu 28th November: 

  • An extract of Positive Risk by Katie Hoare – a funny and poignant stage play, highlighting the challenges in Britain’s mental health system
  • LGBTQTeeHee! presented by The Rep -  new stand up comedy developed through a series of workshops, learning skills and building connection
  • Live music presented by Red Earth Collective 
  • An extract of Witness This by Company Chameleon – a must-see piece dance theatre that is powerful and deeply personal, turning the spotlight on mental health

Highlights – Fri 29th November: 

  • A sharing and performance from Journey LGBT Asylum Group, following their work with Sampad and Ash Mukherjee
  • An extract of Just Enough Madness by Payal Ramchandandi – a captivating solo dance-theatre piece in the Indian style of Kuchipudi.
  • LGBTQTeeHee! presented by The Rep -  new stand up comedy developed through a series of workshops, learning skills and building connection
  • Live music presented by Red Earth Collective 
  • Crying Shame by Sweet Beef Theatre – Step inside Club Fragilé. In a dusty dreamscape you’ll encounter washed-up cabaret acts, filthy lip-syncs and a joyous celebration of queer culture.
