Directing Unplugged – Classic Text, New Movement

Calling all directors, creatives, and those curious about the art of directing! Whether you’re seasoned or just starting out, these Directing Unplugged sessions, led by Ashlee Elizabeth-Lolo and Francesca Robson offer a playful, no-pressure space for you to explore, experiment, and push the boundaries of your work. Dive into new techniques, fresh perspectives, and leave with a burst of inspiration. 

 No prior directing experience needed – just bring an open mind and a willingness to play.
There are three sessions available in the Directing Unplugged series:  

  • Session 1: Directing Unplugged – Different Pools  – Wed 13 Nov, 6:30–8:30 PM 
  • Session 2: Directing Unplugged  – Classic Text, New Movement, Wed 11 Dec,  6:30–8:30 PM 
  • Session 3: Directing Unplugged  – The Struggle Is Real, Wed 15 Jan, 6:30-8:30 PM 

 Each session will run for 2 hours and includes a Test Lab, where participants can submit scripts or ideas they’re working on. As a group, we’ll push each other to think outside the box and find innovative approaches to directing. 

 

Session 2: Directing Unplugged – Classic Text, New Movement

How do you take timeless words and turn them into dynamic motion? 

In this session, we’ll explore the power of movement and physical storytelling. From Shakespeare to fairy tales, you’ll discover how to transform classic narratives into captivating physical performances. And what if we strip away the words altogether? 

 

Join us for an exciting, exploratory journey into the craft of directing. Expect to experiment, collaborate, and most of all, have fun!
