Good for a Girl is a ground-breaking piece of theatre celebrating and exposing the real-life experiences of women in football.
Written by Becky Deeks and directed by Lucy Wild, this dynamic, comedic and hard-hitting production reveals the resilience of female footballers and the inequalities women still face in society today.

Becky Deeks
Becky Deeks
Becky is a writer, director, and facilitator with over ten years experience working in the theatre industry. Having initially trained as an actor, she developed a love for directing and writing through working with the Young Rep and Red River Theatre.
Drawing on her own journey as a female footballer, she applied to Arts Council England who funded the writing and creation of Good for a Girl, her first full-length play. Having played for teams across the South East and the Midlands, Becky’s own prolific football experience gives her a unique perspective as the playwright.
Her previous written work has been performed at the Birmingham Rep, Midlands Art Centre, and The Atkins Gallery. Her work for film has been used at international human trafficking conferences. Becky is particularly focused on writing that will engage young people, new audiences and bring about social change.

Lucy Wild
Lucy is a Director, Movement Director, Choreographer and Facilitator.
She uses the arts to engage and empower people, as a tool to inspire, connect and make positive change. Her work shares often unheard stories and voices. She aims to break down barriers to the arts and make the world more accessible and inclusive.
Companies she has worked for include Frantic Assembly, New Adventures, Royal Lyceum Theatre, Birmingham Repertory Theatre, Derby Theatre and King’s and Theatre Royal Glasgow among others. She is also the founder of feminist arts organisation Fractured Glass and co-founder of Overdrive Dance Company.

Laura is the Head of Scenic Art at Birmingham Rep and has painted for theatre, film, concerts, theme parks and museums around the world.

Hope is a Producer developing and producing work across the commercial and subsidised theatre sector.
She is currently Associate Producer at the Old Vic, London. Prior to this she was Producer at Birmingham Repertory Theatre, Associate Producer for Jonathan Church Theatre Productions and worked with acclaimed touring company, Headlong. She has worked on multiple Olivier award-winning productions and tours, both nationally and internationally. She is a Trustee for participatory, feminist theatre company Spare Tyre, based in South East London and holds a Masters in Arts Policy and Management from Birkbeck.
