London City Ballet: Momentum
London City Ballet, former resident company of Sadler’s Wells, makes its debut at The Rep showcasing artists rarely seen in the UK in a brand new repertoire.
London City Ballet is wide awake and back in business”
★★★★ The Times
The company presents George Balanchine’s Haieff Divertimento – an early work by the master choreographer originally dubbed lost for 40 years after its premiere. Alexei Ratmansky’s Pictures at an Exhibition truly brings art to life with Modest Mussorgsky’s score set against a backdrop of Wassily Kandinsky’s best-known masterpieces.
Unseen in the UK since its 2009 premiere, Consolations & Liebestraum by Liam Scarlett is a response to Franz Liszt’s piano score depicting the lifecycle of a relationship, its blossoming and later fracturing love.
The programme also features a new work by emerging choreographer, Florent Melac, best known as a Premier Danseur at the Paris Opera Ballet. Join us for a performance showcasing world class dancers from all over the world at one of the company’s first venues on its international tour.
