Nowruznameh: A Cultural & Artistic Event

A performance and storytelling event featuring tales from Shahnameh, Zarathushtranameh, and other Iranian stories related to Nowruz: The Iranian New Year.

Nowruz is a celebration of nature’s rebirth and the arrival of spring, but its significance goes far beyond that. Many pivotal and legendary events in Iranian mythology are believed to have taken place on this day. When we speak of Iran in this context, we refer not just to its present-day borders but to its vast cultural heritage.

Nowruz is celebrated across many countries along the Silk Road, including Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, India, Iraq, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Pakistan. The first day of spring (March 21) has been officially recognized as the International Day of Nowruz and registered as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

In our performance, Nowruznameh, we welcome the coming of spring by bringing to life ancient stories that have been woven into the fabric of Nowruz for centuries.
