The Witching Hour

A new production from Plymouth Barbican Theatre’s ReBels Young Company

Black Cats, Broomsticks, and Pentagrams? It sounds like you have a witch problem!

But fear not—justice has never been more entertaining! Welcome to The Witching Hour, the nation’s hottest, most cutthroat game show, where trials are a spectacle, the audience holds the gavel, and survival is a matter of public opinion.

Forget fairness. Here, charm is currency, and scandal is sport. Contestants must plead their case through dazzling performances, persuasive narratives, and well-timed theatrics. One wrong move and they could find themselves the latest villain in a society addicted to outrage and desperate for a new scapegoat.

Through razor-sharp satire and absurd humor, The Witching Hour takes a scathing look at justice as spectacle, the fragility of reputation, and a culture where being liked isn’t just desirable—it’s a matter of life and death.

ReBels Young Company is a year-long creative development initiative at Plymouth Barbican Theatre, specifically designed for early-career creatives aged 18-25 who are seeking their first job in the arts. ReBels Young Company provides a pathway to overcome the barriers that so often deter young people from pursuing their dreams.
