Access Card - FAQS

Frequently asked questions about Nimbus Disability & Access Card

What is Nimbus Disability and The Access Card?

Nimbus Disability is a social enterprise and an organisation run by and for disabled people and is recognised as a leading authority on accessible ticketing in the UK.

Since its initial development, the access card is now widely accepted at major event venues across the UK and beyond.

Why have we partnered with Nimbus Disability?

Partnering with Nimbus means we are also able to reach a wider audience through Nimbus Disability’s channels, allowing even more people to book accessible tickets at The Rep and ensures the right tickets are sold to those who are eligible.

Our customers’ access requirements will continue to be linked to their Rep account, allowing customers to be able to choose the correct seating requirements when making a booking.

How do I apply?

There are two ways you can register for a Nimbus card.

Option One

You can apply for a free access registration recognised at Birmingham Rep only and will be valid for three years.

Option Two

You can upgrade to a universal Access Card application.

The access Card costs £15 for three years of membership. The full card provides you with the same benefits as the free registration, as well as:

  • Recognised at venues across the UK and beyond
  • Potential free companion tickets at events and venues across the UK
  • A Photo ID card with symbols relating to accessibility needs
  • Informative online access directory
  • Access to a closed Facebook Community group

When you register, Nimbus Disability will handle all your information securely and safely without us ever having cause to see the detail behind why you need accessible seating options. The quickest and easiest way to apply is online. Nimbus do have the ability to undertake a phone application by calling 0330 808 5108 to book a date and time for a phone application.

What is the difference between a Universal Access Card and a Rep Digital Access Pass?

The Access Card is a universal way of conveying your access requirement with organisations and ticketing systems in the UK and beyond. Universal Access Cards are £15 for 3 years and can be used at thousands of venues and events.

A Rep Digital Access Pass is a free way of conveying your access requirements with us. You still go through the same process, but receive a confirmation email with your Digital Access Pass number but no physical card. It lasts for 3 years and you can always upgrade to a full Access Card at a later date.

What happens next after I've applied?

Once your application has been submitted, you will receive an email from birmingham-rep@nimbusdisability.co.uk to confirm the application has been received. Nimbus will process the application in due course, with average processing times being within five working days.

If Nimbus has received everything needed from you and can fully process your application, you will receive a confirmation email from birmingham-rep@nimbusdisability.co.uk and the subject line will contain your registration number and general advice on how to use it. You can then use it to link your access needs to your Rep account. If you have applied for the universal Access Card, the email will also include details regarding the physical card, which will be delivered to you.

If, for any reason, Nimbus is unable to process your application you will receive a follow-up email that will detail what else is needed to finalise your application.

I'm having trouble with my registration - what should i do?

If you are having trouble verifying your registration number on your online Rep account, please check your confirmation email from Nimbus to check the registration code is correct and the name on that email matches your Rep account exactly.

You can also can find out more on their website.

If you are having trouble registering, or have any questions about your application you can contact Nimbus directly by emailing birmingham-rep@nimbusdisability.co.uk or calling 0330 808 5108.

How does the Access Card work?

After you have verified your registration number, your access requirements will then feed through directly from Nimbus to our ticket system.

Seats associated with your requirements will show on the seating plans when you book your tickets (where there is availability for those seats). Any applicable discounts will then discount automatically at checkout when you book.

If you would prefer to link your Rep account over the phone, you can still call our Box Office on 0121 236 4455 (Mon – Sat 12 noon – 6pm) and one of our team will be happy to help. Please have your access registration number ready so our team can link your account.

When can I book accessible tickets once registered?

Once your account is linked, you’ll be able to book access tickets suitable to your requirements online and over the phone with our Box Office.

Can I book access tickets without an access card registration?

If you are already a member of our existing Access Register, you be able to continue booking accessible tickets until Friday 6 September at 12 noon.

After this date, you will need to have signed up for an Access Card via Nimbus to book accessible tickets online or over the phone with The Rep.
